[i]gymnopedie posting in [i]deviantart: Millions of Santas

Merry Christmas everyone :)

This year's card. Brought to you by my mother's collection of Santas (you can see a very, VERY small sampling of her grand collection here), and Millions of Cats - Wanda Gág in 1928 (Great children's book, one of my favs)

Anyone new to my list, this is a tradition I've been doing for a few years now. I draw up a card, mail out a handful of them to family and friends.

[i]mahochan1: More photos of Goo Jun Pyo, this time wearing one of his trademark furry coats :)

Hi again everyone!

Ah, it's been a while since I've posted scans. Here is more Goo Jun Pyo from the official Japanese Boys Over Flowers website. ♥

Uwah, he is so cuddly wearing this furry coat. *giggling*

As usual, I want to hug him!

*fighting urge to glomp*

Uh oh, the cake scene.

But luckily, behind the scenes everything seems to be fine. :)

[i]kriscynical: SNOW OMFG.

Okay now I'm going to squee about the snow and share some picspam. Since I posted my last entry the snow actually started accumulating and the grass and bushes are completely white now! It's supposed to keep snowing for the rest of the day until about 8:00 tonight with wind chills getting down below zero overnight...

OMFG I think we're actually going to have a white Christmas! Dear God PLEASE let this be an omen that 2010 will be a better year. Please.

After it started accumulating enough to make the grass white we decided to take Sushi out front to discover what snow is.

Sushi snow pic spam! )

WHEEE MY FIRST WHITE CHRISTMAS! :D

[i]mahochan1: BOF K-drama Vol. 2 of 2, BOF OST Luxury Edition and BOF on Netflix :)

Hi everyone,

Still playing catch up on this Christmas eve. :)

As you have probably already seen, the second volume of the US release of the Boys Over Flowers (K-drama) DVD set is available for order at Yesasia.com. (Volume 2 of 2)

Also, the limited edition 3 disc Boys Over Flowers OST Luxury Edition is available for purchase at Yesasia.com as well.

LOL, I ordered both already. *waves a resigned goodbye to money*

On another note, passing on a message from Alyx from YA Entertainment:

***

Hi All,

I need your help. In an effort to continue to reach out to the mainstream with our K-dramas on DVD with English subtitles we have signed on with Netflix. According to their reports there are not enough people adding our titles into their queues and we are at risk of not being able to share this very important and popular genre with the millions of people that Netflix has access too.

What say you, everyone? Shall we show our BOF and K-drama fan power to Netflix?

[i]aoimaboroshi posting in [i]vampire_knight: Vampire Knight Nokia Mobile Theme (Nokia 6300 and others)

So I thought it was about time I paid something back to the community...

I had some free time this evening, so I threw together this ZxY theme :) I think that now, with the chapters being from Yuuki and Kamane's point of view, this pairing is very neglected! If you love them like I do, then this is the perfect theme for you :)
I used scans from Sagakure that are floating around the net; all credit goes to her. If for any reason this is not acceptable, tell me, and I will take the theme down. Feel free to share and edit to your liking ;)

I'm really wondering as to how much a Sailor Moon Bento Box would cost.
I got it in a lot and it is for sale, I really need money so I have to sell it quick.
My friend told me it was worth over $20, but I don't really know the the range.
Here are some pics for reference.  )

[i]kriscynical: Christmas Life Update

I've been meaning to make an entry for days but every time I have a spare second to sit down and actually write, I don't feel like it. I'm taking a break now from the day-before-Christmas baking/cooking, so let's give this a shot.

It's been snowing outside all day today wtf. We have less than a 5% chance annually of having a white Christmas, so that's pretty wild. None of it is going to stick because it's been too warm the last few days leading up to now, but around here I'm happy to consider it a white Christmas if the stuff is even falling. It makes it a great backdrop for baking, man. I might make some coffee later.

I haven't said much lately because either nothing has been happening or I've been business busy or just trying to tune out everything else that's happening. Angeline has her first tests next week and the results will tell us what her prognosis is. As of right now they're saying the breast cancer has spread to her liver, they think it's in her right lung, and they're doing a brain and bone scan. A liver transplant isn't an option because it's not liver cancer, it's breast cancer in her liver. If it were to be transplanted, the breast cancer would just start taking over the new liver.

Right now all we know is that if she responds to the chemo, she could have a few years left. If she doesn't respond, all we know is "it will be quick". She can't take the same kind of chemo she was on before (which worked) because your body can only tolerate so much of it in your lifetime. She's in a lot of pain right now because of where it's spread to, and the pain meds they gave her make her deathly ill. She's going to try and get them changed, but with JPS that's a craps shoot with loaded dice that favor the house. They NEVER give out pain meds... think Tylenol 800s after a mastectomy. For now we're all trying to put it all out of mind to enjoy the holiday, Angeline included.

In other news I've been hired by a game developing company to do design work for an educational video game. :D I can't say anything more than that because I've signed an NDA, but so far it's been far too much fun to be considered work. I love my career. :D

That's all I can remember right now for an update. If I think of anything else I'll write again later. It's just that I've been severely neglecting LJ lately and I need to stop.

[i]sapphireluna posting in [i]deviantart: Subscription offer half price

I'm sure you've seen the current holiday offer : Buy a subscription to someone and get one free for yourself. It ends tomorrow night.

I'm looking for someone who wants to pay half a year subscription with me. It's 32$ CAN (unsure about US price), so we both would have to pay 16$. I'm looking for someone willing to send me 16$ (15$ US?) through paypal. I'd then pay the other half and buy the subsciption for you, then I'd receive one as well.
Time is running, so let me know if someone is willing to help.

[i]queenofthecute: Job (and lack thereof) Update

Last night everyone in my department at work (about 60 people, including my Dad) was laid off, except for about 5 of us. Merry fucking Christmas, huh?

We found out last week that the whole department was being shut down, but they told us it would be happening on January 8th. Of course, considering that the only reason we knew then was because someone CCed an email to the wrong people, I guess I shouldn’t be very surprised by this turn. You stay classy, Verizon. *finger guns*

The few of us that they kept will only be around until the end of the month. We'll be able to manage with the unemployment until I find something new (and dare I say… better?) but still. Not the best way to begin the new year. =/

Since I’m going to suddenly have a lot more free time on my hands, I’ll most likely be online a bunch more. My Facebook account is still hacked or whatever, so I can’t login to that, but I’m on Tumblr and Twitter now! Let me know who you are around those parts of the internet so I can follow you, too. <3

[i]mahochan1: HYD J-drama and Kamio-sensei News

Hi everyone!

I've been lurking for a while...work has been pretty crazy lately. My new job is awesome and much better than my old job but the change has been exhausting. Also, I've been sick so I've been recuperating as well.

Here are some news bites, please check out these posts!

Kamio Sensei to launch new Manga in February

Hanadan Christmas anyone?
(Director's cut of HYD Final Movie showing on Christmas eve on Japanese television)

Inoue Mao writes message on HYD Final website

Message from Mao

Hana Yori Dango Memorable Scenes 1 and 2

Many thanks again to everyone who posted the information! *so many people to thank, please see their posts for their names* ♥

I'm really curious about the Christmas surprise that Inoue Mao mentioned will be revealed after they show the director's cut of HYD final on TV. I keep hoping it will be an announcement that the HYD manga is continuing but doubt that will happen since it was reported that Kamio sensei will launch a new manga in February in Bessatsu Margaret.

Ah the suspense! :)

*still wondering*

-Maho-chan :)

PS: I have some fanfics and HYD K-drama related posts coming soon. ♥

[i]strawberrygina: Stress relief post.

I feel like I've been struggling just to keep up recently and am always running behind. Maybe I'm starting to feel what other webcomic artists feel on a general basis? XD I am feeling a HUGE weight off of my shoulders now Red String Vol.5 is done and all the pre-orders have shipped out. I was really stressing about that for a couple weeks with the delays and the looming holiday. I am hoping I can get back into the swing of things and catch up with my comic work now that the book is out of the way. I'd love to get a little bit ahead again so I can dedicate some of that extra time to some other comic projects I'd like to explore on the side. I have a couple ideas I've been throwing around and would love to develop further. ^_^

Adam is still looking for a job (luckily still has unemployment checks for a couple more months). My mother and father are both still looking for jobs. My uncle is getting by, but works on commission and the jobs are slow at the moment. It's kind of scary knowing there's no one in the family to help out if things keep looking grim in the job dept. We're getting by right now. I have been doing some art commissions on the site to help bring in a little more money aside from what I make with Red String. At least sticking to the art (something I love), I am making equal to or maybe a little more than what I'd make at a crappy retail job I could get elsewhere.

I've been thinking recently... Being an adult is weird. I don't "FEEL" any different than when I was a teenager, but I feel stressed about "adult" things like money, insurance, my family's well-being, etc. Maybe that's just part of how it is to feel like an adult. ^_^;

[i]phut: Annual Christmas thoughts/rants/observations/wonderings/etc.

Every year as Christmas rolls along, I start to get annoyed even more as December 25 approaches. I can't stand this time of year.

**Let me just clarify: Christmas to me is a celebration of Jesus Christ. We celebrate his birth, the start of salvation for us.

That's what Christmas is to me. That is what it should be.

**But now we have people stressing out about buying gifts out of obligation because the holiday requires us to. I have not bought a single gift out of obligation for anyone for Christmas. I am not stressed at all and it feels good. It sickens me to see all these people talking about Christmas gifts and all that stuff. I have nothing against getting people gifts. It's a nice gesture. But when it gets to the point of obligation or frustration, then it's no longer about giving but about completing a necessary task. Give because you want to, not because you feel you have to.

Wouldn't it be easier if there were no gifts involved? No one gives any and no one gets any. We just remember Jesus. (They did that for The Simpsons in one episode, therefore it must be a good solution). But it's not going to happen.

And if Linus says it's this, that must be it! Right? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKk9rv2hUfA

**Now, for all of you who don't believe in Jesus Christ and its Christian connections, I guess you would have another holiday to celebrate. Cool. But it frustrates me when people say to me "Happy Holidays" when they know I'm Christian and they are Christian themselves. It's like they're embarrassed to acknowledge Christmas.

I think the easiest solution is to just say whatever is being celebrated. I say "Merry Christmas" because I celebrate it. If the person I talk to doesn't, well, oh well. I don't care. They can wish me a "Happy Hanukkah" and I wouldn't mind. Politically correct is stupid. Soon we're going to have equal working reindeer in the workforce and snowmen snowpersons soon before you realize it.

This reminds me of a commercial I saw last year. This husband bought the wife a gift. And when presenting the gift to her, he says "Happy Holidays!". Pathetic. Do people actually wish their significant others "Happy Holidays"? I thought that was only used for talking to the general public, not to people close. And you say that when you don't know what the other person celebrates. But in the commercial, that was the guy's wife. Don't know what religion your wife is in? Uh oh...

**I was at Target trying to look at good deals. They had a whole section just for Hanukkah. Dreidals, menorahs and things were on sale. They even had Hanukkah wrapping paper... WAY cheaper than Christmas wrapping paper. I should have just bought the Hanukkah ones. What a deal!

**Rudolph has antlers. And if I remember, reindeer with antlers are supposed to be female.

**I never believed in Santa Claus as a kid. I never had a chimney in my old house. So when Christmas Eve rolled around, I wondered how Santa would get into my house. When I woke up in the morning and saw no extra gifts, I knew he didn't exist.

Besides, Santa would have been shot in some neighborhoods for wearing the wrong color. No way he can exist!

**It's 12 days of Christmas, right? So we celebrate until January 6th! Those wise men took their time.

**Celebrate Christmas with Mr. Bean!! CLICK HERE

**One more Mr. Bean clip for your entertainment CLICK HERE

**Christmas songs are not fun... well, at least to me. I start hearing them once I finish eating turkey at Thanksgiving. (By the way, seeing Christmas things on sale at Costco before Halloween is wrong). But the songs give me this odd feeling. Makes me not excited for it. Maybe if I heard Christmas songs in the week leading up to Christmas rather than during Black Friday, maybe I would like it more.

**Best Christmas song ever? Any song from this album.

Here is the first single from it: CLICK HERE
Yeah it's weird

Actually, my favorite Christmas song is this "Happy Xmas" by John Lennon
CLICK HERE to watch MV for it

Check out Maroon 5's cover of this... just as cool. HERE IT IS

**Who really celebrates New Years Day? It's just another day on a calendar... well, a new calendar. But what are we really celebrating? Maybe it's me because I don't measure things in calendar years. I don't go for a "memorable 2009" type of moments. I just go forward.

**There are a lot of people that don't have a fun Christmas. They are without family, shelter, food, clothes and all the essentials. Let's lend a hand this time around and serve others before serving ourselves.

**Maybe I do sound a little butter bitter, but I'm not. I just hope that this Christmas time doesn't get transformed into a politically correct, Hallmark holiday greedfest. I just want a time where we can remember the real meaning of why we celebrate. Life would be much easier if things were simpler.
